Happy 4 Months Born Into Heaven, Jonah ❤️ Handling Anniversaries

Anniversaries are hard. Today is 4 months since my Jonah was born into Heaven on January 22nd.

I have yet to establish any sort of routine, or something I do on anniversaries to make them feel special. I would like to come up with something that I do every time…that sounds comforting. Maybe light a candle? Read from Jonah’s naming ceremony? I’m not sure.

Do you have a special anniversary remembrance ritual? I’d love some ideas.

I lost my daughter a little over two months ago, and I’m still trying to figure out what to do on the anniversaries. I’d love to hear what others are doing, as well! 🙂

I bought “Guess How Much I Love You” and write little notes in it whenever I visit her memorial. For me, reading these sweet words and writing my thoughts are a very nice way to celebrate life instead of experiencing the tremendous pain of loss.

A friend of mine goes to Starbucks and orders using her baby’s name. I think this is a beautiful way to honor the loss. Seeing the name somehow brings life to the loss.

My husband and I send three blue balloons into the sky on his birthday every month. We write a little note and tie it to the string. Just a few words that mention our son and say if this letter somehow finds its way to someone; that life is so very precious and to hold your loved ones close. We, also, light a candle every month on the day that he died.

On the first anniversaries I would capture the sunset (or the sunrise or the sky). Photography was healing and still is 5 years later.

My girls middle name is Rose, so I get roses on the 10th of every month.
I’m sure eventually we will just do every Jan 10, but for now we will honour & remember monthly.
